There is a huge selection of restaurants to choose from in Bath, almost all of which are listed on the Bath Restaurants website. Competition amongst the restaurants means it is very hard to get a bad meal in Bath (but do avoid the tourist traps around the Abbey). A few recommendations:

Wagamama - Big and efficient, located in George Street
Yum-Yum Thai - Kingsmead Square restaurant popular with locals

Beaujolais - Good food, eccentric owner and small garden. Chapel Row
Casani's Restaurant - Superb French food in a convenient location behind the Assembly Rooms

Indian

Eastern Eye - Large and very good Indian Restaurant in Quiet Street
Rajpoot - Intimate Indian Restaurant just off Pulteney Bridge

Italian

Aqua - Very fine Italian in Walcot Street
Cafe Martini - Traditional Italian, complete with waiters with big pepper grinders. George Street
Strada - Upmarket chain restaurant next door to the Theatre Royal

Steaks

Brasserie Chez Gérard - Great view over Pulteney Weir from this Grand Parade Restaurant
Hudson Steakhouse Bar & Grill - Best steaks in Bath in a sophisticated pub conversion at the top of Walcot Street

Takeaway

Marmaris - Kebabs on Grand Parade.
Schwartz Brothers - Walcot Street & Sawclose. Simply the best burgers in the world.
ShakeAway - Milk shakes in Beau Street

Bath Pubs

The Bath Pubs website lists all of the 100+ pubs in Bath. Hen nights in Bath traditionally cruise the bigger city centre pubs such as The Bell, Bar Ha Ha, The Pig and Fiddle, The Slug and Lettuce, All Bar One, The Rat and Parrot, Gascoyne Place, O'Niels, Delfter Krug and The Huntsman.

Hall and Woodhouse, which opened in the summer of 2010, is also proving to be very popular.

For cocktails, try Browns on Orange Grove.

Bath Clubs

Back to Mine - Located at the top end of town, handy for pouring into after the George Street Pubs close.

Blue Rooms - Posh club in a George Street Basement under Wagamamas. Owned by old rugby players it has a luxurious interior, sofas, and chilled sounds. Expensive.

Club XL (Formerly Cadillacs) - Biggest club in Bath on Walcot Street. Two levels, two dance floors and four bars including a separate cocktail bar. Music played includes the latest chart hits, dance hits and old school.

Moles Club - Live music venue that has been in the same cellar off George Street for ever.

Po Na Na - Popular underground club with a Moroccan theme.Squeeze the Cheese night is Friday, Scandal on Saturdays.
