Checklist for the Hen Party Organiser

Organisation is the key to getting the best out of your time in Bath. This is a checklist that covers the main points that should be planned in advance.

Invitations

Pick a date that is as convenient as possible for the party, and give as much notice as possible. Consult the bride on the party theme and dress code. Make sure everyone can afford the trip.

Travel

Book tickets as far ahead as possible. Consider a mini-van for your trip to Bath. Remember parking in Bath can be a problem. Print out a map of where you are staying, and send it to anyone travelling independently. Have a firm meeting up time and place.

Activities

Talk to everyone about what they would like to do, and book ahead for organised activities. Have a plan B if the weather is a factor (for example balloon trips). Plan some down time for personal shopping and sight-seeing.

Partying

Confirm your limo and restaurant bookings the day before. Pace the drinking and include some soft drinks to avoid peaking too early. Be outrageous, but try not to make anyone uncomfortable - the whole idea is for everyone to enjoy the night and have fun. Make sure you can find and get back into your accommodation if you are out late!

A few other points

Produce a schedule of what happens where and when, and circulate this around the party, so everyone knows what is happening. If anyone gets distracted or lost they'll know where and when to pick up the party again.

Don't surprise the bride unless you are absolutely sure that she will enjoy it.

Take lots of photographs.

Remember that the bride should be the centre of attention, and make sure she gets home in one piece!

Allow some recovery time before work or especially the wedding.

Don't forget the present for the bride.
